Database Guide: FitchConnect: Fitch Ratings

FitchConnect offers current and historical credit ratings for countries, companies, banks, and insurance companies. Historical ratings are available on each individual entity's home page.
NOTE: Not all entities are rated and historical coverage varies for rated entities.

The process of finding individual entity's current and historical credit ratings and creating a custom list of entities, which includes current credit ratings data, is uniform across all entities. The main difference is the types of ratings available for a selected entity. Following is the suggested list of ratings applicable to each entity.

For Sovereign:

• Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (default column on the list)
• Short-Term Issuer Default Rating
• Long-Term LC Issuer Default Rating
• Short-Term LC Issuer Default Rating
• Sovereign Country Ceiling Rating

For Corporate:

• Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (default column on the list)
• Short-Term Issuer Default Rating
• Long-Term LC Issuer Default Rating
• Short-Term LC Issuer Default Rating

For Bank:

• Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (default column on the list)
• Short-Term Issuer Default Rating
• Viability Rating
• Support Rating Floor
• Derivative Counterparty Rating

For Insurance Company:

• Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (default column on the list)
• Short-Term Issuer Default Rating
• IFS Rating
• Short-Term IFS Rating

Find current and historical credit ratings for individual entities or create a list of entities that includes current credit ratings data.

1. From the menu on top blue bar select Search > Entities.
2. In the Select Data Items section under Sector tab select as required:

• Sovereigns & Supranationals > All or individual Sovereigns or Supranationals
• Banks > All or specific type(s)
• Corporates > All or specific industry sector(s)
• Insurance > All or specific type(s)

That will create a list of entities in the selected category with default columns including Long-Term Issuer Default Rating.

3. Add additional criteria if needed under Geography and Financials tabs.
4. On Credit tab, expand Fitch Rating to select additional credit rating criteria if needed. See Suggested Types of Fitch Ratings for Individual Entities section on this page.
5. To export the list, select entries and click Export to Excel icon.

To view an individual entity's ratings, click the name of the entity.

1. On the entity's Home page, select Ratings on top menu.
   For historical data, go to Ratings History section on the Ratings page:

• Select time coverage from the drop-down list, e.g. Latest 5 Years, Latest 10 Years, or All.
• Expand each individual rating category to view the history.

2. To export, with the results open, click the Excel icon above the ratings history on right.

NOTE: Coverage and data availability varies.

Find ratings related research:

1. On and entity's Home page, select Research from the top menu.
2. On the results page on the bar above the results on right, select Fitch Ratings from the drop-down list in All box.
3. To further customize research results, click (Create a Custom Search) link.
4. That will open additional filters above the results window to specify language, dates, and sorting order.
5. Use icons in top right corner of the View window to print or download research items.
