How to Request & Pickup Library Materials

Eligible Stanford members can request library materials from most Stanford collections for pickup.

  1. Request eligible materials in SearchWorks, Stanford's online library catalog, and select your desired pickup location.
  2. We'll find the materials and prepare them for pickup.
  3. Once the materials are ready, we'll send you an email.
  4. Follow the instructions provided in the email. See business library requirements for material pickup.

What Materials are Available to Request?

Items with a Request button in SearchWorks, the Libraries' catalog can be requested (see image).

Materials that are available digitally via HathiTrust ETAS are not able to be requested (in SearchWorks there will be this message).

Borrowing from Other Libraries

As of mid October 2020, you can now request physical materials from other libraries, but processing time may be longer than normal.

  • Request books, articles, book chapters, and other material not available at Stanford through Interlibrary Loan.
  • GSB Faculty, Staff, and Faculty Assistants: Request items to be delivered to you on campus through our Document Delivery service.
