Persistent Links

Atlantic Persistent Links

Option 1: Get a permalink if the article is one of our traditional databases.

  1. Search for the article's title in SearchWorks Articles+ (tip: put the article's title in quotation marks for a better search).
  2. If there is a match, look for a way to get a permalink to the article from whichever database it is in (e.g. EBSCO or NewsBank), making sure that the URL includes the proxy so that the link will work from off-campus.
  3. In this example with NewsBank, to get the permalink, click on the link icon at the top of the page, and you get: https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/openurl?ctx_ver=z39.88-2004&rft_id=info%3Asid/infoweb.newsbank.com&svc_dat=AMNP&req_dat=0A5D01961CA94F1BAFA0712DD5C3918C&rft_val_format=info%3Aofi/fmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Actx&rft_dat=document_id%3Anews%252F16E83C6496D77538
  4. Add the proxy-prefix so the link is: https://stanford.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/openurl?ctx_ver=z39.88-2004&rft_id=info%3Asid/infoweb.newsbank.com&svc_dat=AMNP&req_dat=0A5D01961CA94F1BAFA0712DD5C3918C&rft_val_format=info%3Aofi/fmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Actx&rft_dat=document_id%3Anews%252F16E83C6496D77538
